Circle Tail provides service and hearing dogs for people with disabilities at no cost to the individual. They also provide dogs for adoption, as well as dog obedience training, behavior management, educational programs, and boarding/grooming services. Dog daycare is offered one day a week on Wednesdays.
Circle Tail is an Assistance Dogs International Accredited facility.
Since 1997, this 501©3 non-profit organization located on the Warren and Clermont County border has obtained dogs from other shelters, as well as private surrenders for adoption and service/hearing dog training. They work with 2 Ohio prisons and at any given time have up to 30 dogs training with inmates. A volunteer veterinarian performs spays and neuters on site, as all must be altered before being eligible for adoption.
Marlys Staley, Executive Director and founder of Circle Tail, describes their current shelter facility as “rustic” and their growth as “slow, but steady. “Two years ago we were fortunate to be able to build a really nice training center with a large training floor, a grooming area, a store, as well as a conference area where the Board of Directors conducts their business meetings.” Staley hopes that an ongoing capital campaign will soon allow them to build separate kennels for service dogs in training and the new arrivals to their program.
